Whoa!! It was wonderful!! <br /><br />We arrived in Chicago mid-afternoon on Thursday, checked in to the Hotel Indigo Gold Coast and went to a steak joint called Gibson's Steakhouse right next to the hotel and saw Reverand Jesse Jackson standing right outside. That was crazy. Slept in, that is right, SLEPT IN (FOR 4 Mornings in a row- HEAVEN!!) and then off to Michigan Avenue for shopping. <br /><br />Friday night (our Anniversary day) we did a dinner Cruise called Odessey Cruise that leaves from Navy Pier. It was a great time. Definitely worth it. Beautiful scenery of Chicago from the water. Great music and very romantic. <br /><br />Saturday we did more shopping, site seeing in Chicago...gave Jason a little taste of what is to come from having Ms. Ella. We toured around the American Girl store. He was in total shock as to everything offered for the "American Girl". What a brilliant marketing and sales venue. Pure genious. I mean, a hair salon?, Tea Party restaurant? Make a Shirt for your doll venue? Pure mad house! It was fun to watch all the girls in there. <br /><br />Sunday we biked around Lake Michigan for a few hours before heading back to Bloomington and enjoyed hanging around Navy Pier. Lots going on there. It would have been more fun if we had Jamison and Ella at Navy Pier. Lots of fun kids activities. <br /><br />From Sunday to Wednesday we spend time with Jason's family and my mom. We are heading back tonight to Lexington. Jamison LOVES his grandpa! It is so enjoyable to see the two of them together. And Ella has shared in many smiles from Grandma and Pa playing. We went to enjoy the fireworks on Friday night in a town about 15 miles from Lexington called Winchester. It was nice. Live music, slide for kids and great fireworks. Then we were off to downtown Lexington on the 4th to enjoy lunch, festival and a little rain. Sunday was spent in Harrodsburg at a wonderful historical house called Beaumont Inn. Jamison and the rest of us are really enjoying our little girl in the house! Jason and I love seeing Jamison interact with Ella. He truly loves her and loves having her around. We had fun at the zoo yesterday. Jamison's favorite animals at tha zoo were the Lions, snakes, monkeys, spiders, ants amd bugs (he is funny...he was excited to see the ants at a zoo). Today we are putting together a little pool that we thought would be fun to hang out in. Jamison is ecstatic! He is jumping all around, running going in and outside the house impatiently awaiting all the water to be filled up. Oh, boy! I am sure I will capture some more moments on camera. Ella is going to be sporting her adorable swim attire. Can't wait to see her in her froggie raft and cute swimsuit. We love (or IIIII soooo love) having a baby girl in the family. I love playing dress up every day and look forward to the days ahead of girlie things like shopping, shopping and more shopping. Well there is always jewelry making too...maybe she will share that same love with me. Hmmmm...And so much more in the days ahead...<br /><br />I can't tell you how happy she is all the time. I guess I can call it bragging, but ultimately we are truly blessed. She whimpers when she is really tired, hungry or wet, but other than that I think we've all died and gone to heaven. :) <br /><br />Jamison is quite the sweet big brother. He always loves to give her kisses and lately has been doing the "tackle" tickle. Hmmm not sure what Ella thinks of that. :) It sure is fun watching the two of them together. <br /><br />Jamison just got home a bit ago from going shopping for clothes with daddy. And guess what they came home with? Transformer, CARS, Batman, Superman and Monster Truck clothes and pjs. I tell ya! Jamison was living the high life strutting around in his new attire. <br /><br />Life is sweet. We've enjoyed visits from Jason's parents, my mom and her close friend Marj and Uncle Joel and Auntie CiCi. Jamison was thrilled to play with his best buddy Joel (well aside from his best buddy- mom and dad).<br /><br />We love our baby Ella sooo much. We have been blessed with a good sleeper and all in all a real peaceful one. She is still our little peanut. At Ella's three week appointment she weighed in at 7 pounds 13 ounces and 21 1/2 inches long. The doctor was very pleased with her weight gain. She STILL is not as big as Jamison was when he was born at 8 pounds 6 ounces.<br /><br />We think she has a lot of the Smith's side in her (Jason's mother's family) with her dark hair, eyes, lips and nose. She looks to me a lot like Jason's baby photo. I thought Jamison looked a lot like my baby photo. She is resting on my chest as I write this blog (yeah...multitasking at it's best- he he!). She is starring at me, oh now she just closed her eyes. Babies sleeping is heaven to me. So beautiful. So peaceful. Her hands are folded together and fall just below her chin. Mmmmmmm<br /><br />Gosh, can't believe Christmas is next week. I think we are almost ready. We've started a few family Christmas traditions this year. Jamison is at that perfect age now. Advent Calendar everyday , Santa letter, presents under the tree (unwrapped ones from Santa), reading of the Christmas story on Eve, Stockings from Santa and I think we will build a Gingerbread house this weekend together. When Chante' comes in, I think we will decorate sugar cookies together. We've been very blessed with a healthy beautiful baby girl and a son who has transitioned extremely well to being a big brother. This week we've enjoyed watching him and hearing him say things like, "I think my baby sister needs a kiss" when he heard her whimpers. Watching him provide her with her pacey when she needs it, giving her random kisses throughout the day, asking his mommy and daddy if he can hold her, telling us "she's cute", and when we ask "What do you think of your baby sister?" and he responds, "Good" are all fond memories we don't want to forget.<br /><br /><br />Ella has been a wonderful baby. We thought that perhaps since Jamison was an easy baby that maybe we would get a real dose of reality the second go around. However, Jason and I have said a few times in the last week to each other Ella is even that much easier. Maybe this means we should just keep on having babies...I mean why not?!?! (no, we might stop here, but can't totally decide that for sure yet. That is a hard decision for us to make).<br /><br /><br />When Ella went to her first doctors appointment, she weighed in at 7 pounds and 19.5 inches (We think the hospital measured her wrong...how could she have grown 1.5 inches in just 5 days?). She officially fits into three of all her 0-3 month outfits. All the others swim on her! She is such a peanut. But boy does she have the longest fingers and skinny long feet!!<br /><br /><br />Mommy has a hard time not calling her "buddy boo" and still has to get adjusted to new nicknames like "princeess," "peanut" or "angel". This hasn't come easy. Mommy can't stop kissing on those cute little lips and looking at her cute nose and ears. She hasn't opened her eyes but maybe for a split second so we still have that to look forward to. She is a pieceful little thing. Ella brought him some gifts of which he thought were pretty cool. After opening the gifts he wanted to hold her. We sat him in the chair and put her in his arms. What a sweet moment. Before he left to say goodbye, he gave her a sweet kiss on the forehead. We can't wait to see how he ajdusts to having a baby sister. The experience at the hospital has been wonderful. Doctor came in today and said Summer can go home Sunday or Monday. Many of you who know me well, already know that anyway, but I am just now admitting this fact myself! It is 12am and here I am 3 weeks away from having a baby creating a blog, but I couldn't help it. I got started and couldn't stop. Wow, how technology has changed! I love it!<br /><br />Anyway, looking forward to posting stories about our family today, tomorrow and for hopefully months and maybe years to come on this new family blog site of ours.
